Product Details

Fosfomycin Tromethamine is indicated only for the treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections (acute cystitis) in women due to susceptible strains of Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis. Fosfomycin Tromethamine is not indicated for the treatment of pyelonephritis or perinephric abscess.
If persistence or reappearance of bacteriuria occurs after treatment with Fosfomycin Tromethamine, other therapeutic agents should be selected.
Fosfomycin Tromethamine can be taken with or without food. Symptoms should improve in two to three days after taking Fosfomycin Tromethamine; if not improved, the patient should contact her health care provider.

What to Expect

Begins working quickly (symptom relief in 1–2 days). Long urinary concentration: Effective for 24-48 hours after a single dose. Clinical cure of 80–90% in acute uncomplicated UTIs and microbiological eradication of 75–85%. Often preferred for ESBL or resistant E. coli, where other oral agents may fail.
